Dr. LaBrenda Thomas, LCSW, LSSW
LaBrenda Thomas, our founder and owner, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Arkansas and Tennessee and a Licensed School Social Worker through the Tennessee Department of Education. With over 15 years of experience, LaBrenda has an extensive amount of history working with children, families, and couples.
LaBrenda's specialties include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, social-emotional learning, anger management, and self-care. Her therapeutic approach is mainly solution-focused and client-centered, as she wholeheartedly believes that a collaborative approach with her clients produces the best results.

Larry Thomas, Jr.
Larry Thomas, Jr serves as our Chief Operations Officer. With over 13 years of experience in Business Administration, Larry is responsible for the day to day operations of Empowerment Counseling. Larry earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, AR.
Larry's goal is to expand ECC across the Memphis area to increase access of services to children, families and adults. Larry's commitment to the operations and development of Empowerment Counseling has led to the company's growth thus far.

Christopher Mathews, LCSW
Christopher I. Mathews, LCSW, brings over 15 years of comprehensive experience in social service, with 6 dedicated years in clinical practice. His clinical focus revolves around the intricate interplay of trauma, relationships, sex, and sexuality. Christopher is a specialist in working with couples, enabling them to navigate the complexities of their connections, and he extends his expertise to males ages 16 and above, as well as individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, with a particular commitment to serving people of color.
His journey into clinical practice was ignited by his experiences in social services, where he witnessed firsthand the profound impact of systemic trauma and upstream issues on individuals' lives. Christopher's therapeutic approach encompasses trauma-focused techniques, ego state work, and reality-based therapies. As a therapist, he sees himself as a supportive companion on his clients' paths to wholeness, whether they are exploring their past or charting a new course for their future. Together, Christopher and his clients navigate the unique challenges at the intersection of trauma, relationships, and sex, fostering healing and growth.

Derri Weeks, MSW, LSSW, ECMH-E
Derri Weeks, a compassionate Licensed School Social Worker through the Tennessee Department of Education dedicated to supporting children and families with empathy, creativity, and care. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work with a focus on trauma-informed care from Union University and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Memphis. She is currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Tennessee, as well as certification in play therapy.
With a passion for helping children build resilience, Derri integrates innovative therapeutic approaches such as art therapy, play-based therapy, music and movement, and mindfulness. She is committed to creating safe, nurturing spaces where young clients can explore their feelings and develop healthy ways to process difficult emotions.
Grounded in empathy and understanding, Derri provides a therapeutic, nonjudgmental environment where each child feels seen, valued, and supported. Her mission is to foster emotional well-being and guide children toward healing and growth, always keeping compassion at the heart of her approach.

Leah Gray, LMSW
As a compassionate and dedicated social worker and therapist with extensive experience in trauma-informed care, case management, and supporting individuals through life’s most challenging moments, it is Lea'h’s duty as a therapist to ensure she foster a safe, empathetic environment to empower clients in their healing process. Leah is committed to providing holistic support through a safe, judgment-free, and sensitive lens, while ensuring each person feels valued, heard, and supported. Leah is passionate about promoting safety, well-being, and dignity for all clients served. She is thankful that clients trust her with their wellness and healing journey.

Dr. Sedaria Williams, LPC, NCC
Sedaria Williams, M.A. has a Master's degree in Sports Administration from Belhaven University and graduated from the University of Memphis' Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Christian Brothers University also awarded her a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Psychology. Sedaria is working towards her L.P.C licensure. Having worked in the mental health field for five years, Sedaria has experience working with adults, couples, children, and families who have overcome trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, anger management issues, and legal and socio-economic challenges. Moreover, Sedaria has a great deal of experience in counseling athletes at both the collegiate and professional levels. Sedaria has experience working with diverse cultures, backgrounds, and belief systems with the necessary tools and skills. Clients can process and heal in a safe, nonjudgmental space created by her empathy, warmth, and sense of accountability. In her practice, she emphasizes the client-centered approach, allowing them to be active participants in the healing process. She concentrates on family systems-based therapy, cognitive-based therapy, and trauma-focused therapy. In the end, she hopes she can help her clients gain a sense of self-awareness, and security and help them follow a guided path to healing. Sedaria is a member of the Chi Sigma Iota International Counseling Honor Society. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counseling and Supervision at the University of Memphis. Sedaria enjoys singing, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Ebony Mack, M.A., NCC
Ebony Mack holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and is currently working to earn licensure as an LPC in the state of Tennessee. She has clinical experience working with adults and youth in various settings that include but are not limited to anger management, victims of domestic violence and individual and family counseling. Ebony also brings many years of experience in financial counseling and holds the designation of HERO (Helping Everyone Reach Opportunities), a community development certified financial counseling program designed to help those individuals that are in the most financial distress.
Ebony’s therapeutic approach consists of cognitive behavioral therapy as well as behavioral modification. Her desire is for Mental Health Therapy to become a welcomed and healthy practice among people from all backgrounds and ethnicities. Ebony aims to provide a safe and comfortable space for individuals to feel secure on their path to healing and becoming whole.
Teresa Hargrove, MS
Teresa Hargrove has a rich tenure working with individuals and families with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mrs. Hargrove has advocated for the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities for more than thirty years. The complexities of challenges families faced lead Mrs. Hargrove to pursue her master’s in clinical Mental Health with Liberty University to help bridge the gap in lack of services for families in crisis. Mrs. Hargrove has experience working with families facing crisis and trauma and loves integrating her clinical skills with spiritual applications supporting individuals to live whole, beautiful and transformative lives. She loves group work and has lead divorce recovery and mental health awareness groups. Mrs. Hargrove loves walking with those wounded by life and helping them navigate their brokenness and leading them to discover wholeness. This includes those facing the loss of loved ones, divorce, life/work transitions, and individuals dealing with anxiety, depression and religious trauma. Mrs. Hargrove utilizes Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as spiritual practices in her clinical sessions to help individuals find hope, healing and freedom.
Tarik Immanuel, NCC, LPC/MHSP (Temp)
Tarik Immanuel strives to help his clients make better choices and achieve positive outcomes. He has clinical experience providing therapy to adults and adolescents, where he has supported them in better managing their mental health and behavior problems. Some of these mental health/behavior problems include depression, anxiety, anger, grief, sexual behavior problems, and more. Additionally, he has experience working with adolescent juvenile offenders, helping them to take accountability for their negative behaviors and to make effective plans to improve their behaviors and to not engage in illegal activity in the future.
Committed to professional excellence, Tarik holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Walden University. He is a National Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors. And he is designated as a Temporary Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider in Tennessee, by the Tennessee Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. Working towards full licensure and with a desire to improve the wellness of his clients, Tarik is dedicated in providing empathetic, ethical, and empowering counseling services.
Caneshia Wolobah, LMSW
Caneshia is a dedicated therapist committed to helping individuals reclaim their peace, strengthen their identity, and build lives rooted in confidence, clarity, and emotional wellness. She specializes in supporting clients navigating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-identity concerns, confidence challenges, trauma recovery, and LGBTQ+ experiences, as well as those seeking Christian-integrated counseling that honors both faith and mental health.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply client-centered. She believes healing happens when people feel seen, safe, and supported without judgment. Whether someone is working through long-standing patterns, processing painful experiences, or learning to trust themselves again, Caneshia creates a therapeutic space where authenticity is welcomed and growth is nurtured.
She is passionate about helping clients understand the “why” behind their emotions and behaviors while equipping them with practical tools to navigate daily life. Janet McClora, LMSW
Janet is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with 16 years of experience in the social work field and more than 10 years of counseling experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. She is also a certified mediator through the Tennessee Supreme Court, bringing additional expertise in communication, conflict resolution, and collaborative problem-solving.
Janet is passionate about working with adolescent girls and young women who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, or difficulties managing emotions. Her goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences, develop new skills, and achieve personal growth.
Her therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These evidence-based practices help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, strengthen coping skills, and build resilience. Janet tailors treatment to meet each client’s unique needs, recognizing that every person’s journey is different.
